Warts (papillomas) in Pets
Warts, also called papillomas, are benign growths caused by papillomavirus.
They are most commonly seen in young dogs, but can occasionally affect cats and older pets with weakened immunity.
Warts can appear on:
- Mouth – lips, tongue, gums, palate (oral papillomas)
- Skin – eyelids, paws, belly, genital area
- Other mucous membranes
They are usually painless, small, and cauliflower-like. Occasionally, they may interfere with eating, chewing, walking, or play if located in sensitive areas.
