Educational Overview
Ringworm in Cats
Ringworm in cats is a fungal skin condition, not a worm. It commonly appears as circular patches of hair loss, scaling, broken hairs, or mild redness, and may or may not cause itching.
Cats can carry ringworm spores on the coat or skin, and the condition is more commonly seen in kittens, senior cats, multi-cat households, shelters, or cats under stress. Environmental exposure and reduced skin resilience can increase susceptibility.
Management typically involves veterinary assessment, appropriate hygiene measures, and environmental cleaning. Supportive care approaches may be used to assist skin comfort, coat condition, and overall wellbeing during recovery, alongside veterinary guidance.
Each cat is unique, and care should always be tailored to the individual, with advice from a qualified animal health practitioner.
