Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia (IMT) in Pets
Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia (IMT) is a condition in which a pet’s immune system mistakenly targets its own platelets. Platelets are the small blood components that help with normal clotting, so when their numbers drop, pets may become more prone to bruising or bleeding.
IMT can occur in dogs, cats, and occasionally other animals, and may develop on its own or following stressors such as illness, environmental change, or physical challenges.
