Renal & Hepatic Amyloidosis (kidney and Liver Amyloidosis)
Amyloidosis occurs when abnormal proteins—called amyloid—accumulate in organs.
When this buildup affects the kidneys it is known as renal amyloidosis, and when it affects the liver it is called hepatic amyloidosis.
These deposits interfere with normal organ function and can lead to progressive health changes.
Common Signs
Renal Amyloidosis (Kidneys)
- Protein loss in urine leading to swelling (edema)
- Reduced kidney function or signs of kidney disease
- Fatigue, weakness, or poor appetite
- Foamy urine due to protein loss
Hepatic Amyloidosis (Liver)
- Enlarged liver (hepatomegaly)
- Discomfort or fullness in the abdomen
- Changes in liver function tests
- Reduced appetite, weight loss, or general lethargy
