What causes low stomach acid?

1.    One type of bacteria we have is lactic acid bacteria. This type of bacteria acidifies the colon. We also have lactic acid yeast, which acidifies the colon. These microbes help with digestion. The more complete digestion you have in the lower part of the digestive system, the better it’s going to be for the upper part, like the stomach.

If you don’t have enough microbiome in your large intestine, that can lead to an overgrowth of bacteria in your small intestine. This is called SIBO. This can also back up the whole system causing regurgitation of fluids.
* Use a specific PROBIOTIC strain SB Saccharomyces boulasdii (5Bilion CFU By BioCeuticals SB Floractiv) take 2 caps twice a day or    your pet add 1-2 powder from capsules - twice a day.     A stronger is also available from AussiePooch - Saccharomyces Boulardii (SB) 20 billion CFU (60 caps)   Twice a day for min of 2 months.

e.g    this gut infection is common for Lyme patients  or  Pets and Humans that have been on chemical antibiotics.

2.   Eating too much red meat   (pureed veg with less meat for a dog)

3.    Low salt (of the good salt) diet  (avoid table salt, use Celtic Salt a few grains in water bottle or 1/4 teaspoon pets water dish)

4.   Potassium Deficiency (Potassium chloride - 1/4 teaspoon = approx. 560mg)     *Humans need 4-5,000 mg per day.

5.   Zinc Deficiency          (use Zinc Picolinate)

6.   Iodine Deficiency       (e.g canines or humans with Hypothyroidism)

7.   Magnesium Deficiency   (Magnesium will reduce spasm of the lower oesophageal sphincter and prevent the release of acid into the oesophagus. Magnesium deficiency is not uncommon in patients with malabsorption syndrome or other disorders. Dysphagia and nystagmus are reported as significant parts of the syndrome of magnesium deficiency)

Can all contribute to having a low stomach acid.
