Understanding Physical Strain

Dogs bred for high activity, such as working, sporting, agility, herding, and protection breeds, as well as performance horses used for riding, racing, eventing, endurance, or farm work, naturally place greater stress on their muscles, joints, and connective tissues.

Because of their higher physical output, these animals may be more prone to temporary muscle fatigue, soft-tissue strain, and general mobility challenges after intense activity.

1. Increased Muscle Demand

Active animals use their muscles at a much higher intensity. This can contribute to:

• Mild soreness after heavy work

Animals that turn quickly, jump, sprint, pull, or carry weight are more likely to place pressure on:
