A natural formula to treat as well as prevent acute or chronic HEAT STROKE or HEAT EXHAUSTION.
Overheating is an emergency situation. Rapid cooling is necessary to avoid damage.
Keep your pets cool
Shade, plenty of water, keep their tummies damp with wet cloths (wipe them over regularly), no exercise in the heat (especially brachycephalic/flat-faced breeds), and don't make them walk on hot roads and footpaths. Very important on scorchers like today.
Signs of heat stroke are:
Rapid panting
Bright red tongue
Red or pale gums
Thick, sticky saliva
Depression
Weakness
Headaches
Dizziness
Vomiting - sometimes with blood
Diarrhea
Shock
Coma
Seek veterinary attention ASAP if this happens, it can be life-threatening! - especially if you don't have access to cool water or remedies.
What can I do if you have water or hose or near a tape?
~ Always run cold water (tap, hose etc) continuously over your pet's or animals whole body for a min of 10 minutes and longer.
Do NOT use ICE WATER or extremely cold water.
~ Also start using Natural, Plant - Based formula Heat Exhaustion 178 or one or two of the remedies in the combination that is suggested.
~ When an animal is more relaxed start oral syringe water with some baking soda (sodium) or buy a packet of electrolytes from the pharmacy and add to water and oral syringe for the day.
Repeat until recovery.
Cats and dogs do not normally sweat as humans and horses do, so their only mechanism for rapid heat reduction is panting.
This formula is also excellent for poultry farms that can overheat in sheds, adding drops or pills to the main water supply with help give relief and prevention of overheating and exhaustion.
E.g. FIRST stir in a dose once a week to farm trough or water supply for all farm animals and species. Exposure to excessive heat can cause loss of body fluids and a rise in body temperature. This may occur at any age but is most common in babies and elderly people. It can occur due to prolonged exposure to high atmospheric temperature or a brief exposure to very high atmospheric temperature (direct exposure to the sun is not necessary) or due to heavy manual work in high temperature, high humidity.
Heat Cramps
Heat cramps, also known as stoker's cramps and fireman's cramps, are painful involuntary contractions of large voluntary muscles of the arms, legs, and trunk. They appear in men who work in hot, humid places, lose much water by copious sweating (normal response of the body to the environment) and drink water to replace that lost in perspiration. These patients are NOT dehydrated but have electrolyte deficiency. Oral fluids and electrolyte replacement will be sufficient.
Heat Exhaustion
This is an abnormal condition marked by weakness, dizziness, nausea, muscle cramps, and fainting. It is caused by low levels of body fluid and salts resulting from exposure to intense heat or the inability to adjust to the heat. Body temperature is near normal; blood pressure may drop but usually returns to normal as the person is placed in a lying-down position; the skin is cool, damp, and pale. The patient IS dehydrated. The person usually recovers with rest and replacement of water and salt.
Heat Stroke
A severe and sometimes fatal condition that results from the failure of the body to regulate its temperature. This is caused by prolonged exposure to the sun or too high temperatures. Lessening or lack of sweating (or panting for canines) is an early symptom. The body temperature of 105 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, fast pulse rate, hot and dry skin, headache, confusion, blackouts, and convulsions may occur. The patient may have fluid and body sodium depletion as seen in classic heat exhaustion.
For all cases (give some natural electrolytes)
.... must give "oral fluids" add a good pinch of sodium (eg Himalayan, Celtic salt, any natural salt - not white table salt) side of mouth every 5 to 10 minutes as well as support. Syringe or spoon side of mouth every few minutes over a period of time patient is feeling more awake.
Natural electrolytes can be:
Sea salt. (not table white salt) Sodium is one of the electrolytes that were quickest to lose through sweat. ...
Coconut water. - Packed with nutrients and low in sugar, coconut water is a great way to rehydrate and replenish electrolytes, especially potassium.
