Grief or Loss Support

Pets, like humans, can experience deep sadness and emotional stress after the loss of a loved one — whether that loss is of a human family member, another pet, or even an animal of a different species they shared a bond with.

All animals grieve, just as humans do. Losing a beloved companion can be as tough—or sometimes tougher—than losing one of our own species. Each passing leaves a void, felt at the deepest part of the heart. We are all souls on a spiritual journey, and the bonds we form with those in our care are sacred. It’s never “just” an animal. Love is love: human to human, human to animal, and species to species.

Ways to Walk Through Grief

Alongside natural, plant-based support formulas—such as a Shock formula if the passing was sudden, or a Grief formula before and after a beloved has passed (whether naturally or with a vet’s help at home)—ritual and gentle care can help ease the heart.

A three-day ritual for healing:

  • Day 1 – Comfort: After the passing, lean into comfort food and a favorite movie. Distraction softens the raw edge of loss.

  • Day 2 – Care: Take a warm magnesium bath, receive a massage, or meet a trusted friend for hot chocolate. Simple outings with people who understand lighten the heart.

  • Day 3 – Clearing: Clean and refresh the home. Removing old energy creates space for new light and helps reset the spirit.

Grief, however, is unpredictable. It can return in waves, stirred by scents, sights, or the memory of a blanket still carrying their warmth.

The Celts gave three full days to grief, often with keening and ritual to release sorrow. Crying, ceremony, and planting trees or flowers in honor of the departed remain powerful ways to give love a lasting form.

If a pet is buried at home, many place roses or flowering plants at the site. Their spirit often lingers close for weeks—felt in the bed beside you, the back seat of a car, or heard in a faint bark or purr. The body releases, but the spirit is strong, alive, and still connected.

Treasure your beloveds. They are a true gift of God, and their love never leaves you.

Common signs may include:

  • Restlessness or pacing

  • Reduced appetite

  • Withdrawal or hiding

  • Whining, vocalising, or excessive attention-seeking

  • Loss of interest in play or normal activities

The natural, plant-based Grief or Loss Support formula is traditionally used to help ease emotional tension, restore calm, and support balance during times of mourning or transition.

This gentle support can be offered alongside extra love, reassurance, and a stable environment, helping your companion to move through their grief with comfort.

Practitioner Notes

Emotional Stress in Animals

Pets often grieve in ways that mirror human mourning. The loss may be of a bonded human, another pet, or even an animal of a different species they were close to. Stressful changes in the household (separation, rehoming, or extended absence of a caretaker) can also trigger grief-like behaviours.

Common Observations

  • Pacing, restlessness, or wandering behaviour

  • Withdrawal, hiding, or lack of interest in surroundings

  • Appetite changes — reduced eating or refusal of food

  • Clinginess, vocalisation, or attention-seeking

  • Loss of joy in play, reluctance to interact with family

  • Signs of stress in the body (shedding, digestive upset, lowered immunity)

Supportive Measures

1. Emotional Remedies

  • The natural, plant-based Grief or Loss Support formula may be used daily to encourage calm, emotional release, and balance.

  • Combine with Pet Kalm formula for additional relaxation support if agitation, anxiety, or sleeplessness are present.

2. Nutritional Support

  • Magnesium (ReMag liquid or Magnesium Glycinate powder): assists in calming the nervous system and supporting stress resilience.

  • B-complex (Bee pollen granules or natural B vitamin sources): helps restore balance to adrenal and nervous system stress responses.

  • Add small, ongoing amounts into daily meals.

3. Environmental Adjustments

  • Keep a stable routine — feeding and exercise at the same times daily provides reassurance.

  • Offer gentle enrichment (calm walks, soft music, gentle grooming, familiar scents).

  • Ensure access to natural light and safe outdoor observation if possible.

4. Touch & Healing Practices

  • Gentle techniques like TTouch therapy may be introduced to provide comfort and open new pathways of trust and healing.

  • Even 5 minutes of mindful touch daily can help ease tension and restore connection.

Additional Practitioner Considerations

  • Animals may grieve longer than expected. Continue support for weeks to months.

  • Grief can lower immunity, so consider additional immune-balancing formulas if chronic illness or infections appear.

  • If grief is combined with relocation, loss of appetite, or depression, layering remedies (Grief Support + Transition Harmony Support + Appetite Support) can be beneficial.

I bought this and used in conjunction with your Separation Anxiety in Animals for my cat who was suffering from grief and separation anxiety after losing his littermates of 16 years. I chose to use the drops, easy to dispense and believe that they greatly assisted by boy with his symptoms. I would be happy to use these items again for emotional issues with my pets.
