WARNING.  If your pet is currently receiving Prednisone or other catabolic steroid injections, be aware these drugs are well known to trigger or worsen pancreatitis. Additionally, the commonly used diuretic Lasix (Furosemide®) has also been linked to pancreatitis episodes in both dogs and cats.

What is Triaditis in Cats?

“Triaditis” is not a single disease but rather a combination of three conditions that often occur together:

• Pancreatitis – inflammation of the pancreas.

• Cholangiohepatitis – inflammation of the gallbladder and bile ducts.

• Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) – inflammation of the stomach and intestines.

Veterinary care may involve prescription drugs such as cortisone and ursodeoxycholic acid.

Important Note on Medications

If your cat is on Prednisone or other catabolic steroid injections, or diuretics, be aware that these are well-documented contributors to pancreatitis. Long-term use may also place additional strain on the liver and digestive tract.
