Educational Overview
Tooth Plaque
Plaque isn’t just a human problem - animals get it too. Tooth plaque is a soft, sticky film made of bacteria that naturally forms on the surface of teeth. When an animal eats, those bacteria feed on leftover food particles and produce acids that can irritate the gums.
If plaque isn’t removed, it can harden into tartar, which is much tougher to clean and can lead to gum inflammation and more serious dental disease. Dogs, cats, rabbits, and even some zoo animals are all at risk.
Early signs of plaque buildup can include bad breath, yellowish deposits on the teeth, or changes in chewing behavior. Regular dental care - like appropriate chew toys, brushing when recommended, and routine veterinary checkups - helps keep plaque under control.
Healthy teeth support overall health. Understanding plaque is the first step in protecting the animals we care for.

SET OF
Educational Purposes
We often consider oral comfort an important part of long-term wellbeing for cats and kittens. Dental health is traditionally associated with overall vitality, comfort, and resilience, and supporting the mouth early may help maintain healthy teeth throughout life.
This blend may be used in conjunction with the Drawing Out 16 formula, which has a long history of traditional use in maintaining balance and resilience. For additional support, the Dental Comfort 12-1 formula may also be considered. Bottle No.1 has been traditionally associated with strengthening enamel and general oral balance.
Kittens naturally lose their baby teeth within the first six months, and by twelve months of age, most cats have their full set of thirty adult teeth. Our goal is to help support healthy teeth and gums so they remain strong throughout adulthood and into the senior years.
Traditional observations note that excessive drooling, changes in breath odour, or difficulty chewing may be linked with oral imbalance or sensitivity. Folk practice also recognised that certain natural ingredients were valued for their role in maintaining enamel strength, supporting gum comfort, and encouraging resilience when the mouth was under stress.
In cats, oral bacteria such as Pasteurella multocida are naturally present in a large percentage of the population. Traditional wellness approaches have focused on maintaining clean teeth and healthy gums as part of overall balance, as animals with tartar build-up or gum irritation are thought to be more vulnerable to discomfort.
Tooth resorption has been described as a painful condition in cats, though many show few outward signs until the tooth is directly affected. Traditionally, natural support has been directed towards strengthening enamel, maintaining gum health, and encouraging resilience in the tissues of the mouth.
Formulated with plant-based ingredients selected for their gentle role in supporting overall balance and wellbeing.

Customer Comment - Feb 2025
Firstly, I want to say how grateful I am, to you, your team of practitioners.
I've been using Smelly Mouth now on my three cats since Oct 2024, and I have seen significant improvement. So much so that two of my kitties, Peanut and Reiki, the tartar is almost gone. For Sunny Ray, it's slowly reducing I can see that - so switching over to Dental Plak now as I've just used up Smelly Mouth.
One of my friend's kitty started eating better and the mouth has less odor.
Another friend's Samoyet - she says the tartar has significantly reduced.
Believe she (Belinda Jan Yeo) has also bought and been using other products from Natural Pet Botanicals.
I'm very very happy and relieved that we don't have to bring the cats in for dental, and their oral health is improving with an all-natural product.
GRATEFUL,
Jane
