Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy (PSSM1), Equine exertional rhabdomyolysis (ER), often referred to as “tying-up”, is a clinical syndrome characterized by painful muscle contractures with exercise and skeletal muscle fiber necrosis.' Laminitis, StringHalt.
Clinical symptoms can include skin twitching, stiffness, firm painful muscles, sweating, weakness, and reluctance to move with light exercise. Occasionally gait abnormalities, mild colic, and muscle wasting may also occur. In many, cases horses that have tested positive have had no history of 'tying-up' or other symptoms associated with PSSM1.
But due to showing acute deficiencies in this mineral, you will need to build up the amounts slowly over a period of a month or two to fully resolve all symptoms
