We also highly recommend adding mineral Magnesium
Either - Magnesium Glycinate Powder 1/2 teaspoon twice a day or - Magnesium Ion Chlorid Liquid (240ml bottles) (from Dr. Carolyn Deans website) using 20 drops twice a day. This is important for all stressed, nervous or competition animals.
We can also provide small sample bottles to try the ReMag magnesium 284 liquid 50ml
Note: Valerian herb is swab positive if your horse is a galloper or pacer. So, we will leave this herb out of your formula. Please make sure you let us know your horse is a racehorse. We can Custom make a herbal formula if more than one type.

- Nervous Equine Formula (Type 1) B
" Valerian herb " Symptoms: horse anxious and tense within the muscles, rigid with fear, teeth gnashing on the bit. Freezes up with tension, rather than bolting, if he/she encounters a series of stressful events, he/she may just explode, buck, rear or take off.
- Nervous Equine Formula (Type 2) C
" Vervain herb " Symptoms: this horse anxiety is processed through the skin. Sensitive and twitchy skin, generally very nervous and jumpy, without any real reason. This is a horse who is constantly agitated and highly reactive, always moving and fidgeting.
- Nervous Equine Formula (Type 3) D
" Chamomile herb " Symptoms: this horse gets upset easily, almost always presenting with diarrhea or scours when he or she's nervous or concerned. They may show other symptoms of nerve types, but they mainly have internalized worrying characteristics. While he may be a little spooky, the main problem is in the gut. This type of nervous horse may suffer an attack of colic when under stress, and he is the one that rapidly loses weight and coat condition in stressful situations. Slow to back-up of difficulty in doing so if asked to. We often see this in racehorse situations.
- Nervous Equine Formula (Type 4) E
" Hops herb " Symptoms: this horse processes his anxiety through his head. He/she is easily distracted mentally and is difficult for him to concentrate as she/he"s constantly very scattered and unfocused. Concentration span often seems to be less than 30 seconds. This horse is usually very busy in the head, NOT necessarily physically hot to handle or to ride.
- Nervous Equine Formula (Type 5) F
" PassionFlower herb " Symptoms: this herb helps change old patterns, similar to the applying the TEAM t-touch hands-on therapy working on the cellular memory. This herb will allow the horse to relax and remove the need for nervous reactions. Re-educating the nervous system as it settles into new habits so that the horse no longer reacts in the old way. If just the herb as the therapy, you may find they may revert back after a year or so. So this is applying T-touch and/or Hypericum 10M strength will work on a deeper level. Contact our office for this remedy is needed now or later.
- Nervous Equine formula (Type 6)
" Hypericum herb " The herbs allow the horse to relax and remove the need for nervous reactions. This re-educates the nervous system as it settles into new habits so that the horse no longer reacts in the old way. Sometimes, after a year or so following a treatment course, a horse may revert to old behavior patterns as a result of his nervous system becoming unbalanced. Perhaps during stress resulting from a change in his physical environment ie a new owner/home, strenuous performance demands, an accident, surgery, or feeding/medication with chemicals, and almost always a month or so after treatment, following up with his particular 'mix' will correct the problem. Sometimes, however, you will find a horse that needs to be given his particular herb/s indefinitely but this horse is the exception. These horses may have long, ingrained behavior patterns, a history of abuse, or other metabolic problems that continue to upset the balance of the nervous system. These are cases to be dealt with by professional herbalists.
Also, if a horse's nervous system is seriously out of balance, there will be physiological implications such as inefficient digestion or absorption;
inability to hold condition;
hormonal imbalances; and structural weakness, all of which must be addressed in conjunction with the nervous system by an experienced natural therapist in order to effect a complete return to normal.
