A carefully selected blend of natural, plant and mineral ingredients, traditionally known for supporting the immune system and inflammation.
Lack of magnesium in the diet can lead to increased respiratory rates (the horse takes more breaths per minute), muscle tremors, loss of appetite and aggressiveness or ill temper. It is thought to be linked to grass sickness, stringhalt and azoturia. Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy (PSSM1), Equine exertional rhabdomyolysis (ER), often referred to as “tying-up”, is a clinical syndrome characterized by painful muscle contractures with exercise and skeletal muscle fiber necrosis.'
However, more recently a link has been made between magnesium deficiency and laminitis.
Because magnesium is crucial to the deposition of calcium into the bones, magnesium deficiency can also produce all of the problems associated with calcium deficiency.
Reference: Following research by Sue Kempson at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies near Edinburgh, she was finding good results in the treatment of laminitis using magnesium supplementation.

The Relaxation Mineral
Think of magnesium as the relaxation mineral.
Anything that is tight, irritable, cramps, and stiff — whether it is a body part or an even a mood — is a sign of magnesium deficiency. This critical mineral is actually responsible for over 400 enzyme reactions and is found in all of your tissues — but mainly in your bones, muscles, and brain. You must have it for your cells to make energy, for many different chemical pumps to work, to stabilize membranes, and to help muscles relax. That is why the list of conditions that are found related to magnesium deficiency is so long. In fact, there are over 3,500 medical references on magnesium deficiency!
Even so, this mineral is mostly ignored because it is not a drug, even though it is MORE powerful than drugs in many cases. That’s why we use it in the hospital for life-threatening and emergency situations like seizures and heart failure. Magnesium deficiency has even has been linked to inflammation in the body and higher CRP levels. In our society, magnesium deficiency is a huge problem.
By conservative standards of measurement (blood, or serum, magnesium levels), 65 percent of people admitted to the intensive care unit — and about 15 percent of the general population — have magnesium deficiency. But this seriously underestimates the problem, because a serum magnesium level is the LEAST sensitive way to detect a drop in your total body magnesium level. So rates of magnesium deficiency could be even higher!
Di you know that Calcium actually competes’ with (depletes) magnesium in the body.
“Symptoms involving impaired contraction of smooth muscles include constipation; urinary spasms; menstrual cramps; difficulty swallowing or a lump in the throat-especially provoked by eating sugar; photophobia, especially difficulty adjusting to oncoming bright headlights in the absence of eye disease; and loud noise sensitivity from stapedius muscle tension in the ear.”
“Other symptoms and signs of Magnesium deficiency and discuss laboratory testing for this common condition. Continuing with the symptoms of Magnesium deficiency, the central nervous system is markedly affected. Symptoms include insomnia, anxiety, hyperactivity and restlessness with constant movement, panic attacks, agoraphobia, and premenstrual irritability.
You or your pet/animal might be magnesium deficient if you have any of the following symptoms:
- Insomnia
- Irritability
- Noise Sensitivity e.g Hyperaesthesia
- Anxiety
- Autism
- ADD
- Palpitations - arrhythmia, heart flutters - irregular rhythm.
- Angina - tightness - spasms
- Constipation
- Anal Muscle - Spasms
- Headaches
- Migraines
- Fibromyalgia
- Chronic fatigue
- Asthma
- Kidney stones
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Osteoporosis
- High Blood Pressure
- Irritable Bladder
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome IBS
- Reflux
- Trouble Swallowing
There are many different types of Magnesium.
For Example "Magnesium Glycinate" or " Magnesium Chloride"
(as you will find there are different types of magnesium supplements) seems to be the best absorbed form of Magnesium, as this magnesium is a chelated form of magnesium that tends to provide the highest levels of absorption and bio-availability and is typically considered ideal for those who are trying to correct a deficiency. And will not cause diarrhea.
Magnesium is one of the most vital minerals your body needs. In fact, magnesium is used in more than 300 biochemical processes in the body. So, when you don’t have enough, things start to go wrong. Unfortunately, blood tests don’t detect a magnesium deficiency.
But there are some tell-tale signs you should watch out for...
Signs of Magnesium deficiency classical physical signs of low magnesium are:
- Neurological: Behavioural disturbances, irritability and anxiety, lethargy, Impaired memory and cognitive function, anorexia or loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, seizures, Insomnia, hyperactivity, sensitivity to sound – noises.
- Muscular: Weakness, muscle spasms (tetany), tics, muscle cramps, hyperactive reflexes, impaired muscle coordination (ataxia), tremors, involuntary eye movements and vertigo, difficulty swallowing, reflux, essential tremor, also known as benign essential tremor.
- Metabolic: Increased intracellular calcium, hyperglycemia, calcium deficiency, potassium deficiency.
- Cardiovascular: Irregular or rapid heartbeat, coronary spasms. (stroke, heart attacks)
