Educational Overview
Feline Epilepsy
Feline epilepsy refers to a condition in which a cat experiences recurrent seizures that originate from abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Seizures may vary in appearance and severity and can include twitching, loss of awareness, stiffness, or unusual behaviours.
Seizures in cats can have many possible causes, including idiopathic (unknown) origins, metabolic factors, infections, toxins, or structural brain changes. Veterinary assessment is essential to identify underlying causes and guide appropriate management.
Supportive wellbeing approaches are sometimes used to assist neurological balance, recovery between episodes, and overall quality of life, alongside veterinary care.
