Ear Mites – Educational Overview
Ear mites are tiny parasites that live in the ear canal and are commonly associated with ear irritation and discomfort in animals. They are most often seen in young animals, rescues, or those exposed to close contact with other pets.
Common signs may include:
-
Frequent head shaking
-
Scratching around the ears
-
Dark, crumbly ear discharge
-
Redness or sensitivity of the ear area
Ear mites can be uncomfortable, and ongoing irritation may affect the skin of the ear canal if not addressed. Maintaining good ear hygiene, supporting skin and immune health, and monitoring changes in ear comfort are important aspects of overall ear wellbeing.
Veterinary advice is recommended if symptoms persist or worsen.
