Discoid Lupus Erythematosus, or DLE, is an immune‑mediated skin condition that most often affects the nose, face, and areas exposed to sunlight.
It involves the immune system reacting against the skin, leading to inflammation and surface changes.
Common Signs
- Loss of pigment on the nose (depigmentation)
- Crusting, scaling, or ulceration on the nose, lips, or facial skin
- Smooth, shiny appearance of the nasal planum
- Sensitivity or discomfort when touched
- Lesions worsening after sun exposure
- In chronic cases, scarring or changes in skin texture
