Chemotherapy Health Support - Set of 4
Chemotherapy Health Support - Set of 4
Educational Overview
Chemotherapy for all species.
How success is chemo therapy in the long run - cure 100%
Short answer: No — chemotherapy does not cure 100% of cancers.
Its long-term success depends entirely on:
-
The type of cancer
-
The stage at diagnosis
-
Whether it has spread (metastasised)
-
The individual patient’s biology
-
Whether chemo is combined with surgery or radiation
There is no universal cure rate.
What chemotherapy is actually designed to do
Chemo can aim to:
-
Cure (complete eradication of cancer)
-
Induce remission (no detectable cancer, but may return)
-
Control disease (slow progression)
-
Provide palliative benefit (improve comfort and quality of life)
Most cancers fall into categories 2–4 rather than permanent cure.
Some cancers respond very well:
Certain leukemias
Some childhood leukemias have very high long-term survival rates.
Testicular cancer (early stage)
Often very responsive.
Hodgkin lymphoma
Can have strong long-term remission rates.
Even in these cases, cure is not guaranteed — but success can be high.
When chemo is usually not curative
For many solid tumors (for example):
-
Pancreatic cancer
-
Advanced lung cancer
-
Metastatic breast cancer
-
Brain cancers
Chemo often helps extend life or shrink tumors but does not permanently eliminate disease.
Veterinary context (dogs and cats)
In animals, chemo is usually aimed at:
-
Achieving remission
-
Extending quality life
-
Minimising side effects
For example, canine lymphoma:
-
Many dogs go into remission
-
Average remission may last months to a couple of years
-
Cure is uncommon
Veterinary oncology focuses more on quality of life than cure.
Why chemo doesn’t cure 100% of cancers
Cancer is not one disease. It is:
-
Genetically unstable
-
Capable of mutating
-
Able to develop drug resistance
-
Influenced by immune response and environment
Even when chemo kills 99% of cancer cells, the remaining 1% can sometimes regrow.
Realistic perspective
Chemotherapy can be:
-
Life-saving in some cancers
-
Life-extending in many
-
Palliative in others
But no chemotherapy treatment offers a 100% guaranteed cure across all cancers.
SET OF
Educational Purposes
We also recognise (and clients report) that Chemotherapy can put a serious strain on the pets metabolism and immune system with nasty side effects sometimes resulting. (These side effects include, but are not limited to, food disinterest, vomiting and extreme lethargy.)
* Our Practitioner may recommend, this set as well as the type of illness the pet has been diagnosed with, if also choosing to do chemo as well. Fine to support all at the same time.
Turkey Tail (Coriolus versicolor), herb also known as Yunzhi mushroom, has a long history of traditional use in East Asian herbal practices for supporting general wellness, resilience, and vitality. Modern scientific research has explored its potential in a range of contexts, including digestive and immune system health.
Studies have investigated its role in supporting patients’ wellbeing during health challenges involving the stomach and colorectal regions. For example, research published through the National Institutes of Health has reported on Turkey Tail’s polysaccharides and their association with immune modulation and overall systemic support.
