Hydrocephalus refers to a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the brain’s ventricles. It also is a neurological condition characterized by an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the brain’s ventricles.

This leads to increased intracranial pressure, which may affect brain development, coordination, and behavior. It can occur congenitally (often noted in toy breeds of dogs or certain cats) or be acquired later in life from trauma, infection, inflammation, or growths.
